Workers at Peugeot's Ryton plant in Coventry have stepped up their campaign against the factory's closure with a protest in London. Car workers from the plant demonstrated outside a Peugeot car dealership in Brent Cross on Saturday.
The workers are angry at plans to move production from Ryton to Slovakia, with the loss of 2,300 jobs.
Union leaders have also produced an open letter to all Londoners urging them to boycott Peugeot cars.
Transport and General Workers' Union convenor Jim O'Boyle said the protest was intended to spread the message of the campaign throughout the UK.
'Treatment of workers'
"If Peugeot-Citro�n believe they can just leave the UK without any consequences for their market share I have a message for them - we are not going away," he said.
The union has drawn up plans to save the plant, but said the company had refused to discuss them.
The open letter tells Londoners considering buying a car to "think of how Peugeot-Citro�n has treated its workers in the UK so shamefully and let that influence your decision".
The protest took place at Warwick Wright Motors on Edgware Road.
