The five are due back in court in October
A former prison officer and four other people have appeared before magistrates accused of corruption and drugs offences at a Midlands jail.

Gordon Hacker, 43, of Vicarage Hill, Rugby, is a former HMP Rye Hill officer and went before a court in Daventry.

He is charged with conspiracy to supply controlled drugs between September 2004 and July 2005 as well as possession of cannabis and amphetamines.

Two other men went before a hearing in Northampton on drugs charges.

Thomas Zealand, 23, and Steven McCluskey, 25, are both charged with conspiracy to supply controlled drugs at the prison on the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire border.

Mr McCluskey is also accused of being concerned in the supply of heroin, ecstasy and cannabis.

Mr Zealand's sister Stephanie, 25, of Thompson Road, Coventry, and Sheree Williams, 21, of Charity Road, Coventry are accused of plotting to supply controlled drugs.

The five were released on unconditional bail until a crown court hearing on 10 October.
