Multi-storey parking plan opposed
Police are opposed to the idea of a multi-storey car park serving Coventry City Football Club's new stadium according to the city council.

Councillors are meeting on Thursday to discuss parking issues which are concerning people who live nearby.

Thousands of fans are expected to drive to the Arena on match days. The venue only has enough room for 2,000 cars.

Councillor Ann Lucas said West Midlands Police told the authority that multi-storey parking would cause chaos.

She said: "Police said traffic would be backing up on to the motorway and then what we would have is people thinking 'it's only 15 minutes to kick-off' and abandoning their cars.

"It wouldn't work and is also incredibly expensive."
