Pensioner wins 1m Bond jackpot
A lucky pensioner was celebrating this week after scooping the 1m tax-free Premium Bond jackpot.

The woman, who asked not to be named, is from Warwickshire and bought the winning number in 1994.

She holds 2,575 in Premium Bonds and is the 132nd person to win the jackpot - the second in Warwickshire since the top prize was introduced in 1994.

The pensioner said she was "over the moon" and now plans to pay off her mortgage and take a "long holiday".

She added: "It's such an incredible surprise. I really never imagined I would ever win so much money.

"I've had a few small wins over the years, but you never think you're going to be the one who gets the jackpot, especially if you only have a little investment, like me."

Premium Bonds were made available to buy online for the first time in their almost 50-year history in February this year.
