A drama centre will be built at the heart of a new partnership between the Royal Shakespeare Company and the University of Warwick. The Higher Education Funding Council for England is giving 4.5m to the university to create the facility on its campus.
The partnership will make use of the theatre's performance skills and experience to help students.
University research will help to shape the future of the RSC acting companies.
The centre will focus on the development of acting and other stage skills, the engineering of production, theatre history, writing for performance, theatre as a research medium, and the rehearsal process.
It will be known as the CAPITAL (Creativity And Performance in Teaching and Learning) Centre.
