Colette Lynch was stabbed on the street |
A man who stabbed a Warwickshire woman to death has been sent to a secure psychiatric institution. Percy Junior Wright, 35, admitted the manslaughter of Colette Lynch on the grounds of diminished responsibility at Birmingham Crown Court on Friday.
Wright, from Rugby, repeatedly knifed 24-year-old Ms Lynch in Garyth Williams Close in the town on 3 February.
Wright received a hospital order, which means he should only be released if he is no longer seen as a public threat.
'Brutal attack'
Speaking after the case, Det Ch Insp Adrian Pearson said: "This has been a real tragedy for all the members of Colette's family.
"The brutal manner in which she died was particularly horrifying and we recognise that this must have been equally traumatic for people living in the locality of where it happened, particularly those who witnessed the attack."
Warwickshire Police voluntarily informed the Independent Police Complaints Commission about the circumstances surrounding her death and their inquiry is still continuing.
The North Warwickshire Primary Health Trust is also conducting an investigation into the circumstances of the case, police said.
