Peugeot plea over 'fault' in cars
Peugeot 206
It is not clear whether incidents are isolated or there is a more serious problem
Coventry car maker Peugeot is asking drivers to contact them immediately if they have experienced potentially dangerous problems with its 206 model.

The move follows concerns raised by the BBC's Watchdog programme.

One motorist featured on the programme said she was travelling at 70mph on the M1 motorway and her engine cut out, brakes failed and she could not steer.

Peugeot said because the problem is intermittent, dealer networks have not been able to replicate it.

It also may be related to the fact the cars featured were three to five years old.

It is not clear whether the incidents are isolated or there is a more serious problem.

In November 2003, the firm recalled thousands of the same model because of a potential problem in its braking system.

Peugeot has asked anyone with a similar problem to contact them.
