Union leaders have called on the people of Coventry to protest at Jaguar's plan to cut more than 1,000 jobs at its Browns Lane plant. A rally has been planned by unions since the luxury car maker announced its intention to end production at the site last month.
The march will take place in Coventry city centre on Saturday, 27 November.
Derek Simpson of the Amicus union said he hoped the people of Coventry would turn out in the their thousands.
'Strength and solidarity'
"Jaguar is synonymous with Coventry, and vice versa, so I know that the people of Coventry will turn out in their thousands to show their support for Browns Lane and for the other Jaguar workers facing redundancy.
"This will be a fantastic show of strength and solidarity against the Ford decision to end car Jaguar production in the city."
Ford's plans will see car production stop at Browns Lane, with 400 voluntary redundancies and 425 jobs moved to the Castle Bromwich factory in Birmingham.
Jaguar will also lose 750 mostly white-collar staff as office work is merged with Land Rover.
The plan will leave 310 jobs at Browns Lane, with workers making wood finishes for Jaguar models.
