Wardens call for stab-proof vests
Traffic wardens in Warwickshire could be issued with stab-proof vests.

Police say over the last few months angry motorists have assaulted two traffic wardens in Rugby and one in Warwick.

Officers in Rugby are considering whether to issue local wardens with stab-proof vests and will put their request to the county force management.

Coventry and Warwickshire Ambulance Service is also considering vests following a number of attacks.

West Midlands Ambulance have already introduced them on a trial basis.

Inspector Mike Fawcett from Rugby Police says they have to decide on the most appropriate level of defence.

"It's not a guarantee but it's something that we're discussing with the management in Rugby.

"But it is a decision that will have to come from the force. We will be monitoring the situation."
