Calls for new kidney unit
Patients in south Warwickshire are calling for a temporary kidney unit to be set up in Stratford-upon-Avon to ease their travel problems.

About 35 people living in the area have to travel to Coventry's Walsgrave Hospital for dialysis.

A new medical supercentre, including a permanent unit, is due to open in Stratford in Spring 2005 after numerous delays.

Patient Carolyn Russam said she did not believe it would be ready on time.

Ms Russam said she had to travel to Walsgrave three times a week and said patients wanted a temporary centre to be set up until the new unit opened.
