John Daleman says he will block the A5 if the council tries to arrest him |
A farmer has threatened to blockade a main road in Warwickshire in a dispute over plans to create a forest on his land. John Daleman plans to build a wildlife reserve and plant a forest at the 250 acre Clifton Lakes Farm, near Clifton-on-Dunsmore.
He has been served with an injunction to halt the work which breaks planning rules.
Mr Daleman says he will use juggernauts to block the A5 if the local council tries to have him arrested.
Waste disposal unit
Rugby Borough Council and Warwickshire District Council have refused him planning permission to plant a forest.
The councils have told him the drainage required for the planting of the trees, will result in the removal of large amounts of soil and they say this constitutes waste.
Mr Daleman said: "I think it's bureaucracy gone mad, I really do. The councils have gone mad.
"Any farmer has used soil from housing developments to either better his land for drainage purposes or re-fertilising and I have done the same."
Mr Daleman has been told that the councils may agree to planning permission if he invests in a waste disposal unit.
He says that would cost him thousands of pounds and has no plans to stop the work.
If there are any attempts made to arrest him he says he will block the main A5 outside his farm with several lorries.
