School bus service success
School buses which carry more than 600 students every day around central and south Warwickshire have been hailed a success by council chiefs.

The School Links buses were launched by Warwickshire County Council four months ago.

Now council bosses say the service is proving so successful they are looking at extending the network.

The fleet of yellow buses took to the road after the local authority decided to operate and manage its own school transport bus fleet after a review of existing services.

The five 70-seat vehicles are owned by the council and are fully seat-belted and fitted with CCTV.

Extremely positive

A council spokesman said a group of experienced drivers had been carefully recruited for the service.

They all wear uniform and carry identity badges at all times.

The spokesman added that feedback from schools, pupils and parents had proved extremely positive.

Ten schools and colleges use the buses for home-to-school transport, with a further 15 primary schools using the service for swimming trips.
