Funding to reduce child poverty

A scheme to help reduce child poverty in Cornwall has been given more than 500,000 of European funding.

The Families Learning and Growing (FLAG) project should benefit 1,300 families in the county.

The scheme helps parents with their literacy and numeracy to improve family relationships and employment skills.

The 570,000, from the European Social Fund convergence programme, has been approved by the Learning and Skills Council.

More than half will be invested by the Cornwall County Council's Adult Education Service.
