Jobs go as milk processing ends

More than 50 people are set to lose their jobs at a milk processing plant in east Cornwall.

Robert Wiseman Dairies at Pensilva is phasing out processing at its dairy. Managers say processing milk there is no longer economically viable.

The company says it has been carrying out a consultation with the staff and unions.

Over the next month milk processing will wind down and 56 of the 133 jobs at the site will go.

The business has another dairy at Okehampton 32 miles away, and is also creating up to 500 jobs at its new facility in Bridgwater in Somerset.

The company says it will give workers as much help as it can.
