A new CD of pop and rock music sung in Cornish is being launched by the Cornish Language Fellowship. The aim of the album, An Eledhva, is to try to show the language is not solely the preserve of folk music.
Dave Miller and Matthew Clarke, who produced the album, hit the headlines in 2006 for their performances of Beatles songs in Cornish.
They had wanted to release a CD of four Beatles songs, but were unable to do so for copyright reasons.
'Excite and inspire'
The new recording by the pair, performing as Skwardya , features original songs in a range of styles from rock to rave.
Mr Clarke said: "It was a shame we weren't allowed to take our Beatles in Cornish to the world properly, but this is the next best thing we can do.
"I hope this will excite and inspire a younger Cornish generation to learn their Celtic tongue."
The number of people who speak fluent Cornish is thought to be between 300 and 400 and the Cornish Language Fellowship estimates that more than 5,000 people have some knowledge of the language.
