 Lifeboat crews answered 450 calls in 2006 |
The number of times lifeboats were launched around the Cornish coast was higher in 2006 than the previous year, the RNLI has said. Crews answered 450 emergency calls, up 80 on 2005, although there was a smaller increase in the number of people rescued.
Newquay's two boats went to sea nearly 80 times and the busiest lifeboat station in the county was Falmouth.
On the Scillies, the St Mary's crew was at sea for a total of nearly 65 hours.
Their crew rescued a total of 40 people.
