Council is to debate health debts
A special meeting has been called by Cornwall County Council to discuss the massive debt affecting the Royal Cornwall Hospitals Trust.

The Health and Adult Social Care Committee will discuss the trust's forecasted 31m shortfall on 3 August.

Members will look at proposals for recovery expected to be set out by the trust in the next few days.

Council Leader David Whalley said while he appreciated the problems facing the NHS, local communities were paramount.

The trust is cutting costs and 300 jobs to reduce the deficit.
