Trust admin staff jobs 'at risk'
Royal Cornwall Hospital
Receptionists, clerks and secretaries are to be affected
Up 400 administration staff at the Royal Cornwall Hospital in Truro have been told their jobs are at risk.

Managers say there will be a 30-day consultation period before any final decisions are made.

Receptionists, clerks and secretaries will bear the brunt of what the Royal Cornwall Hospitals Trust has called an "organisational restructure".

The move is part of the trust's plan to cut a projected 31m debt, one of the highest in the NHS.

Staff have already been told 300 jobs are to go, including workers aged over 65 and those on temporary contracts.

Discussions are also continuing about the future of St Michael's Hospital in Hayle and emergency surgery is to stop at West Cornwall Hospital from the end of August.

An audit of the trust's accounts is due to be published soon which will give the latest financial position.
