Hospital holds crutches amnesty
A wheelchair
Medical aids can be returned to any hospital or health centre
People are being asked to return any crutches, walking frames and wheelchairs they may have been given by the Royal Cornwall Hospitals Trust.

The medical equipment is handed out to patients by the accident and emergency departments in Penzance and Truro but sometimes it is not returned.

This has led to fears of serious problems if there is a surge in demand, and it is expensive to keep replacing.

A nurse manager said borrowed crutches can turn up in a number of odd places.

Lorraine Rogers said: "They've been seen propping open garage doors and holding up plants in the gardens.

"People will use them for all sorts of things."

People who have been given crutches, walking sticks or other medical aids, are being asked to check their cupboards and garages and return them to their nearest hospital or health centre.
