Three hundred jobs are to be cut at the Royal Cornwall Hospital Trust, staff have said. Secretarial and managerial jobs are set to go through voluntary redundancies, with theatres and wards also to close in a move to tackle an �8.1m deficit.
The BBC was contacted by several staff following briefings on Tuesday where it was announced that cuts would be made from a workforce of about 5,000.
The trust declined to comment ahead of a press briefing on Wednesday.
Staff said the trust has told them that the job losses would be voluntary and that it would limit the amount of agency staff used.
Union officials, patient representatives and MPs contacted by the BBC have also said they will not comment until Wednesday.
