Dairy cash for green fuel scheme

The dairy will use the fuel to power its delivery vans
A Cornish dairy farm is to use an EU grant to invest in its development of its use of renewable fuel.

Roskilly's at St Keverne is aiming to collect used vegetable oil from restaurants to run their vehicles.

The Objective One grant will enable the organic dairy on the Lizard to increase production and develop the use of bio diesel to power its delivery vans.

Used vegetable oil from across the county will be collected and converted into the alternative green fuel.

'Beneficial links'

The dairy also hopes to power some of the pasteurisation and manufacturing equipment with the fuel.

Managing director, Toby Roskilly, said: "What we are aiming to achieve is not only increased quality and range of our produce, but also more full time, long term employment opportunities at Roskilly's with mutually beneficial links to other dairy farmers and fruit growers in the area."
