Bridleway re-opens after 10 years

The Goat Track bridleway will re-open on Saturday
A bridleway in Cornwall known as the Goat Track is being re-opened after 10 years of campaigning.

A huge gulley had been eroded down the middle of the path making it unsafe, but the council had not been able to repair it because of a lack of funding.

About 40,000 was needed for repair work, or the bridleway near St Columb would have been closed permanently.

The local British Horse Society, which organised petitions about the path, say the transformation is amazing.

Cornwall County Council's countryside service has had to negotiate with local landowners to halt the discharge of septic tanks onto the path.

But safety and repair works are now complete and there will be a celebratory event at the Goat Track on Saturday.
