Two events are taking place on Saturday to celebrate 10 years of the Tamar Valley being recognised as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). A three-hour journey is planned aboard the sailing boat Lynher Spotter with members of the public being invited to help the skipper navigate his course.
In addition a special walk will begin with a ferry trip from Calstock Quay followed by a three-mile walk.
The Tamar Valley AONB attracts thousands of visitors each year.
It was first proposed that the Tamar Valley should be designated an AONB in 1963, but it was not until August 1995 that the status was granted.
The areas surrounding the rivers Tavy, Tamar and Lynher were recognised as being of outstanding significance due to its rare valley and water landscape, unspoilt estuary, unique wildlife resource and landscape of distinctive heritage.
