The force's professional standards were graded as excellent |
Devon and Cornwall's police force has been rated above average in all areas according to new performance figures released on Wednesday. The results are contained in the Police Performance Monitoring Report 2003/04.
The annual report from Her Majesty's Inspectorate of Constabulary has included gradings for the first time.
The force was assessed on a range of work and received grades of excellent, good and fair, with none of its work being regarded as poor.

The work on crime and disorder reduction and the force's professional standards were graded as excellent.
Call handling, roads policing and race and diversity were some of the aspects of work graded as fair.
The report calls for better training for staff in dealing with race, disability and gender issues.
But the force was congratulated for its close links with communities.
Deputy Chief Constable Nigel Arnold said: "Once again Devon and Cornwall Constabulary has performed well above average when compared with other forces.
"It is particularly pleasing to see the force's partnership working graded as excellent.
"The reports also identify areas for improvement, most notably in the levels of detection."
