The proposed development includes homes and leisure facilities |
The company behind a luxury development on a Cornish beach will meet on Tuesday to decide its next move. Last week the government said aspects of the scheme at Carlyon Bay, near St Austell, should go to a public inquiry.
Development company Ampersand now says one option would be to simplify the plan and avoid the need for a public inquiry.
Work on the 500 upmarket holiday flats, a hotel and leisure facilities has already begun.
Shopping facilities
Although planning consent has existed for years, there are two modifications the developers want to make to the original scheme, which do not yet have consent.
One would allow year-round occupancy of the flats and the other is a bid to replace the old Cornwall Coliseum concert venue with shopping facilities.
Ampersand says it will meet on Tuesday to discuss the matter, but it is more likely it will just develop the original scheme.
Last week local protesters were delighted when the government came down in favour of an inquiry.
Many gathered at Carlyon Bay earlier this year, protesting that the development was too large for the area.
Another local group, Carlyon Baywatch, is attempting to have the beach designated as a village green in order to halt the development.
That application will be considered at another inquiry in the autumn.
