Teenager dies from meningitis
Fowey Community College
Fowey Community College said Isis Clemo was a popular student
A 15-year-old girl from Cornwall has died after contracting meningitis.

Isis Clemo, from St Blazey, who attended Fowey Community College, was taken ill on Monday.

She was admitted to the Royal Cornwall Hospital at Treliske and died on Tuesday.

Antibiotics have been issued to family and friends of the teenager who died from the bacterial form of the disease.

Special assembly

The college's headteacher, Dr Bill Leach, said Isis was a very popular student.

"Isis Clemo was a lively, cheerful and popular Year 10 student who cared about others and will be greatly missed by all her friends."

The school held a special assembly on Wednesday in memory of her.

The Director of Public Health for west Cornwall, Doctor David Miles, said antibiotics had been given to people who were in close contact with Isis.

He said: "We're looking at a very close friendship group of people who spend a lot of time together both in and out of school. We have arranged for antibiotics cover for those pupils.

"Children who were pupils in the same class or tutor group don't come into that category and we wouldn't expect to issue antibiotics any more widely."
