Police are determined to catch the Fisher's killers |
Detectives hunting the killers of a murdered couple in Cornwall have appealed for fresh information. Carole and Graham Fisher were badly beaten and then shot dead at their bungalow and petrol station on the A39 near Wadebridge on 5 November.
Community leaders say many residents are now taking extra precautions because of concerns the murderers have not been caught.
Police say they have extra officers in the area and are confident that they will catch whoever is responsible.
The body of Mrs Fisher, 53, was found by a bus driver outside the Perch Garage at about 0900 GMT on Thursday.
Mr Fisher, 60, was found shot dead in a hallway inside the bungalow.
Some people in Wadebridge say they now think twice before leaving their homes.
One woman resident said: "I am a bit aware of it because they haven't caught anyone yet."
Another woman resident said: "People are thinking 'Is he going to strike again? Where is he going to strike again?'.
"I mean, it is a bit frightening for everyone."
However pub landlord Terry Devillas-Kuun said people still have confidence in the police.
He said: "It's still very early days yet. I'm sure with the amount of resources that the police are pouring into this investigation, hopefully it will be cleared up very quickly."
Public reassured
The vicar of Egloshayle Church at Wadebridge, the Reverend Tim Cotton, said the couple contributed to the local community.
He said: "These things aren't just forgotten, but I think they maybe become less urgent.
"The longer time passes without anything happening, we'll be the calmer for it. But, of course, catching the perpetrators would bring an end to it and that's what we're praying for."
Pc Sharon Newman of Devon and Cornwall Police said: "We want to reassure the public that we have got extra police out there and we're trying extremely hard to catch these killers.
"There is still no motive that has come forward, but we've still got officers searching the scene.
"People may think this is an extremely slow process, but it is important that we get any forensic evidence we can.
"Once we finish that search, we are confident we will catch these people."
