Call to shop drug dealers

Police are worried by an increase in heroin and crack use
A new campaign is being launched in Cornwall to catch drug dealers and cut drug-related crime.

The "Rat on a Rat" campaign is being organised by national crime prevention charity Crimestoppers and the Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Community Safety Partnership.

Residents are being asked to call Crimestoppers with any information they have on people who may be dealing in Class A drugs.

Organisers say they hope to encourage people with information about dealers in Class A drugs, such as heroin, cocaine and crack cocaine, to get in contact anonymously.

Police would then be able to use this information to disrupt drug markets and stifle the supply of illegal substances, making the whole community safer.

Rat on a Rat is being funded by the Government Office South West's Excellence and Innovation Programme.

The campaign follows the success of a similar scheme which was carried out in Plymouth.
