Fires at derelict hotel
Webb's Hotel
The listed building has been empty for many years
Arson investigators are looking into two major fires at a derelict building in a Cornwall town within five hours which are thought to have been started deliberately.

Fire crews from six stations were called to the Webb's Hotel in Liskeard at about 0100 BST on Sunday.

A further three crews were called back just after 0600 BST.

No one is reported to have been injured during either outbreak.

Efforts hampered

The first incident saw six appliances attend.

Police officers were also called to the scene when nearby nightclubs closed and people leaving the clubs began to hamper the effort of the emergency teams.

The town's main street was closed for more than an hour while fire crews tried to bring it under control, which they did quickly.

The four-storey listed building was described by police as having been empty for many years.

Five hours later, the brigade received reports of more flames coming from the windows of the building.

Three more appliances went to the incident and the area was again closed off to traffic.

Arson investigators are now trying to determine the cause of both fires.
