A new company running whale and dolphin spotting trips around Cornwall has been given backing by the South West Investment Group. Orca Sea-Faris will be operating the biggest rigid inflatable boat in the region, a custom-built 36ft rigid inflatable boat, which will operate from a deep-water pontoon in Falmouth Docks.
The company says it is hoping to capitalise on the number of people who visit Cornwall for its wildlife and will offer an educational look at creatures like minke and humpback whales and seabirds.
The 125,000 project, believed to be the first of its type in England, is run by ornithologist Keith Leeves and his partner Suzi Gilpin, who ran a similar business in New Zealand.
The company has been given 25,000 from Finance Cornwall, an investment fund backed by European Objective One money.
Orca has also been awarded 19,500 from the Cornwall Business Enterprise Fund.
Tours are expected to start in September.
