Bus firm admits failures
First bus
First hopes new drivers will get the service back on track
Bus company First has admitted that its services in Cornwall are not good enough.

Operations director Richard Stevens blames a shortage of drivers.

Residents in two china clay villages, St Dennis and Nanpean, have signed a petition calling for a better deal for passengers.

Mr Stevens said the company had had difficulties since introducing a new timetable in April.

He said: "We have not been able to deliver the service that we would hope to do and the people in that area deserve to receive.

"We have had a severe driver shortage which has hampered our ability to deliver a reliable service.

"We have got a lot of drivers coming on line and I am hopeful that we can get the situation rectified over the next couple of weeks."
