Moving story of Becks maniacs
The Hodges family
The family's Beckham souvenirs take up six boxes
Stories of football fans' devotion to their club are not unusual, but one family from Cornwall is taking hero-worship to a new level.

Phil and Denny Hodges are turning their backs on their Truro home and moving to Spain so they can be closer to their hero David Beckham.

The Hodges, and three of their children, are moving everything, including six huge boxes of Beckham souvenirs, to a new villa in Alicante.

Mr Hodges has supported Manchester United for years and had even named the family home, which is now up for sale, Trafford House.

We just plumped for somewhere right in the middle

When the Beckhams announced they were off to Spain earlier this year the family was distraught.

"I said if David Beckham is off to Spain then so are we," said Mrs Hodges.

And Mr Hodges explained why the family chose Alicante.

"We weren't sure whether he was going to Barcelona or Madrid, so we just plumped for somewhere right in the middle.

"It's a big move for us and we're looking forward to it."

The Hodges are leaving Truro to follow their idols in three weeks.
