Top chef to open hotel

Rick Stein already owns a restaurant in Cornwall

South West chef Rick Stein is to open a hotel and two new restaurants in a Cornish surfing town.

He is taking over the Rocklands Hotel, overlooking Tolcarne Beach in Newquay.

It will be gutted and will re-open next year as a 30-bedroom hotel and restaurant.

Mr Stein also plans to open a second restaurant on the beach below, and wants to link the two with an inclined lift.

The total cost of the project is �1.6m.

Mr Stein already owns the Seafood Restaurant in Padstow, which he has run for 26 years.
