The dogs are being looked after at St Columb |
The RSPCA has described two women who abandoned two pet dogs in a Cornish woodland as "callous". The collie-crosses were taken into Tehidy Woods near Redruth, tied up, and left behind without food or water.
Two people were seen driving off in a light blue Ford Sierra saloon, and the charity is appealing for anyone who saw what happened to get in touch.
Les Sutton, Cornwall's RSPCA chief inspector, said the women's actions were foolish and selfish.
"To leave them tied up is very dangerous because the dogs could have got tangled in their tethers, they could have got free and run onto roads.
"It's a very irresponsible thing to do."
The owners of the dogs, if traced, could face prosecution which could result in a six-month prison sentence or a substantial fine.
The dogs, which have been named Tiddy and Woody, are being looked after by the RSPCA at St Columb until they can be found new homes.
