Mr Stein has built a thriving business from his home in Padstow with an annual turnover of in excess of 4m.
I think there is an opening for somewhere good serving fish |
"It appeals to me to open something in London because it'll be such a huge challenge to open a restaurant in a city that's so competitive," he told the latest issue of Square Meal magazine.
"I love the eating out scene in London - the range of what's available is as good as anywhere in the world," but added: "I think there is an opening for somewhere good serving fish."
Apart from his flagship Seafood Restaurant, he also runs St Petroc's Bistro, Rick Stein's Cafe, the Padstow Seafood School, the Seafood Delicatessen and a gift shop.
Mr Stein has also bought a 50-room hotel in Newquay for what he describes as "the bargain price of 600,000", which he plans to close for a year in order to convert into a stylish 25-room property.
