Council halts marina project work

Ely marina project
A local council has ordered a marina developer to "down tools"

A developer in Cambridgeshire which has started work on a riverside marina without planning permission has been ordered to down tools.

The 50-berth marina was planned for Roswell Pits, a Site of Special Scientific Interest on the River Great Ouse near Ely.

But East Cambridgeshire District Council has served an enforcement notice stopping any more work.

Jalsea Marine, proposing the marina, did not want to comment on the order.
