Hotpoint lays off 400 staff again
Hotpoint production line
The lay-offs are to cut fridge stocks at the Peterborough plant
Workers at Hotpoint's Peterborough plant have been told not to attend work this week after a second wave of temporary lay-offs were announced.

A fortnight ago, staff at the factory were sent home for five days on 18.40p per day.

The company said Monday's decision was made in the hope of re-balancing stock and production levels.

As before, the 400 employees affected by the lay-offs work in the manufacturing section of the plant.

There are 1,400 people employed at the plant, which is also the company's UK headquarters.
