Project to restore historic organ
Cathedral floor
The instrument was damaged by a fire in November 2001
Work to restore the historic organ in 800-year-old Peterborough Cathedral is nearing completion.

The instrument was damaged by a fire in November 2001.

The last task, which starts this week, is to revoice and tune the organ. Work on this project should be completed by the beginning of May.

A spokesman for the cathedral has warned people visiting the building that the work to adjust the sounds of the organ pipes may be noisy.
