Rescued terrapins off to new life
A woman who looks after abandoned terrapins is planning to release dozens of them into the wild.

Henny Fenwick, who has more than 100 of the reptiles at her home in Toft, Cambs, said the terrapins were to be given a new home in Tuscany, Italy.

The rescued creatures will be released into a specially created lake at a conservation centre.

Ms Fenwick is vice chairman of the British Chelonia Group, which cares for tortoises, turtles and terrapins.

Terrapins' popularity grew during the Ninja Turtle television show craze in the 1990s but many were later abandoned.

Ms Fenwick has looked after many of them in her greenhouse and those from more tropical climes have been kept in the conservatory.

The 40 rescued creatures will be micro-chipped by a veterinary surgeon before beginning their journey to Italy.
