Tesco will submit a report on the centre's environmental impact |
Up to 1,000 new jobs could be created in Peterborough if plans for a new distribution centre are approved by the council. Supermarket giant Tesco wants to build a 480,000 sq ft centre on land off Parnell Way.
There would also be parking for 498 cars and 130 HGV lorries.
Tesco and developers Raven Group are now preparing a statement on the environmental impact it could have on the surrounding area.
If the report is accepted by Peterborough City Council a full consultation will take place.
The application follows a recent move to the city by Ikea and a new distribution centre for Debenhams.
