Nearly 100 ducks and geese had to be put down after RSPCA inspectors discovered 1,000 sick and emaciated birds at a farm in Cambridgeshire. The remaining 900, many of which were suffering from skin problems and feather loss, were moved to a farm in Swaffham, Norfolk. Inspectors, who visited the farm near Peterborough on Sunday, are now trying to trace their owner. They believe the farmer is abroad and are trying to contact him. RSPCA superintendent Tim Wass said: "The conditions in which we found these birds were some of the worst I have ever seen."
