City's CCTV boosts arrest rates
CCTV cameras
The city's 91 CCTV cameras have helped in the 780 arrested in 2003
CCTV cameras have helped lift arrest rates in Cambridge over the last year.

A new report says the city's 91 cameras helped officers to detain 760 people during 2003 - a fifth up on the previous year's figure.

Police also report that recently-installed mobile cameras on the city's Mill Road have helped reduce anti-social behaviour in a matter of weeks.

To help in the fight against crime, many shops, pubs and clubs have direct contact to the CCTV operators.
