Gag threat for blind 80-year-old
A blind 80-year-old woman was threatened and pushed around in her home by two men in what police say was a "vile and disgusting" burglary.

The victim had fallen asleep listening to the television when she woke to find two men in her home in Great Shelford.

She was told not to make any noise and threatened with violence and gagging before being picked up and forced into a chair on Wednesday night.

They escaped with a small quantity of cash after ransacking the home.

I would also ask the criminal fraternity to search their conscience and contact me if they know anything about this vile and disgusting crime
Sgt Martin Brunning
Sgt Martin Brunning, of Cambridge Police's burglary unit, said: "This is a despicable act on an elderly, blind lady and has obviously affected her very deeply.

"We are keen to receive any information which will help to track the two men down who committed this burglary."

The pair spoke with local accents and are believed to be in their 20s or 30s.

"I am appealing for anyone who saw anything suspicious on Wednesday night to get in touch with me," Sgt Brunning said.

"I would also ask the criminal fraternity to search their conscience and contact me if they know anything about this vile and disgusting crime."

He said officers were putting all the victim's belongings back in place so she could find her way around her home again.
