Nine of the turbines would be on council land and three on farms |
A new 15m wind farm could be built at Red Tile Farm near Warboys. Cambridgeshire County Council and green energy company Wind Prospect have submitted a planning application for the project
The wind farm would include 12 turbines, with 60-metre-high towers and 40-metres-long blades.
The council said the wind farm would supply "green" energy for more than 14,500 homes and generate an income for the landowners and the local community.
County Council Rural Estates Manager John Macmillan said: "There would be a clear reduction of greenhouse gas emissions which aids in the fight against climate change.
"Secondly, farmers and landowners are diversifying their businesses into many non-agricultural areas as farm incomes have become more volatile."
The planning application has been submitted to Huntingdonshire District Council.
