Centre managers are to meet with nearby residents to discuss escapes |
Two more asylum seekers have escaped from the government's refugee reception centre at Oakington in Cambridgeshire. The men, from Romania and Albania, are thought to have broken out between 2030 and 2130 BST on Sunday.
Cambridgeshire Police was alerted by Group 4 staff who run security at the centre and officers made a search of the area.
However there was no trace of the pair, bringing the number of people to escape from the centre this year to 41.
Meeting with managers
The latest escape follows just weeks after security improvement were made at the 4.5m Oakington Reception Centre.
Work was being carried out reinforcing fences with security wire and installing new alarms on doors.
The measures followed the escape of 12 asylum seekers who fled from the flagship centre on 10 August.
The latest escape took place just a day before managers at the centre were due to meet villagers from nearby Longstanton.
A meeting organised by the parish council was due to take place on Monday as there is growing concern among residents about the number of escapes from the centre.
