Courses tackle teacher shortage
Shortages among primary school teachers in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough are being addressed with a new course.

Recruitment managers want to encourage qualified teachers who are taking a break from the profession to return with refresher training.

There are currently about 70 teacher vacancies in Cambridgeshire and 20 in Peterborough.

The county council said these figures are low when compared to national averages, but they still want to see the posts filled.

The county has won funding from the Teacher Training Agency to run special courses refreshing ths skills of qualified teachers who have left the classroom.

The deadline for applications for the first wave of courses, which will be held over the next three years, is 13 June.
