Representatives from the Indian High Commission have attended a special ceremony in Bristol. They came to Arnos Vale cemetery in Brislington to mark the anniversary of the death of the Indian leader and humanitarian, Rajah Ram Mohan Roy.
Bristol's Lord Mayor joined the Deputy High Commissioner to lay flowers at his tomb while Hindu, Muslim and Sikh women sang Sanskrit prayers of thanks.
Rajah Ram Mohan Roy died in Bristol and was buried at Arnos Vale in 1833.
A statue which stands on College Green, was given by India to Bristol to remember the life of the Rajah, who died in the city on 27 September 1833.
