An irate Bristol resident has dumped a food recycling bin on the doorstep of a councillor claiming the bins have never been emptied since the scheme started. The bin came with an anonymous letter suggesting councillor Steven Comer got a taste of the "stinking squalor" which was blighting the street in Eastville.
Mr Comer said some isolated incidents had occurred but added homes missed should call the council's hotline.
"We've had a few complaints but overall the scheme has been a success."
From 5 June, householders in Bristol who have their rubbish collected on a Monday have been required to separate-out kitchen waste, which is collected weekly, while their main bin collection becomes fortnightly.
Homes in the rest of the city change to the new scheme on 8 August.
