Heatwave puts squeeze on hospital
Extra beds are being brought in to Swindon's Great Western hospital to relieve a surge in admissions caused by the recent heatwave.

Patients are being admitted with breathing and heart difficulties resulting from the high temperatures.

Attendances are regularly topping 200 a day and staff are said to be working flat out to cope with the pressure.

Director of Operations Sue Rowley urged people with minor complaints to contact NHS Direct, their doctor or chemist.
