Mass clean up of inner city area
A group made up of police, fire crews, housing officers and Bristol's green task force is to join with residents from Knowle West to clean the area.

The family fun day next Tuesday has been organised by the Knowle West Action Group in an attempt to restore residents' pride in the locality.

The group hopes to remove abandoned cars, fridges and washing machines left on the streets and graffiti.

The group said vandalism, litter and graffiti often lead to other crimes.

During the clean up, skips will be placed at various locations.

Good neighbours

During the afternoon there will be displays from the police and Avon Fire and Rescue and Bristol City Council will bring a stand about recycling to explain to people how to best dispose of their rubbish.

There will also be a five-a-side competition for children which will be started by Jennison Myri-Williams, Bristol City Football Club and England under-21 international at 1300 BST.

The Knowle West Action Group has developed a Good Neighbour Agreement designed to get local people, young and old, to sign up and commit to keeping Knowle West safe and clean, and improving their neighbourhood.
